Kia reveals 2020 Seltos; to go on sale by end of 2019

Canberra: After previewing an undisguised pre-production version of the all-new Kia Seltos a couple of weeks ago, the South Korean manufacturer has finally taken the wraps off the SUV’s exterior. The new Seltos gets some styling cues from the SP and SP Signature concepts.

Designing wise, the SUV comes with the brand’s ‘tiger nose’ grille and has a long bonnet. It stacks front lights including LED main beam present at the top, while the LED indicators are placed below. The turn signals now receive the 3D multi-layer effects. The front and rear fog lights also feature the LED technology, so as the tail-lights. Buyer can opt for a range of alloy wheel designs with sizes available from 16 to 18-inch.

Moving to the features, the all-new Kia Seltos has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is further accompanied by an eight-inch colour head-up display. There is also an ambient interior lighting system having 3D-effect patterns. Depending on the trim, one can also get an eight-speaker Bose sound system equipped with the car.

Globally, the all-new Kia Seltos will be available with a range of petrol and diesel motors. Whereas, Kia Australia has confirmed that the car will come with only two different powertrain options in the local market.

The first among the two Australian units is a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which can provide a maximum power of 147.5 hp. The engine is further equipped with a front-wheel drive and is coupled with a CVT automatic. On the other hand, the second one is a 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol mill that can pump out a maximum power of 174 hp. The power is sent to all the four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Both the powertrain options provide three different driving modes including Normal, Sport, and Eco.

As of now, it is expected that the all-new SUV will hit to the local market by the end of 2019 with the production phase of the local versions to be held in Gwangju’s plant situated in South Korea.
