Ford replaces EcoBoost with Mustang High Performance in Australia

The US carmaker, Ford, has announced that the unloved EcoBoost will be replaced with the Mustang High Performance in Australia. The latter will feature a four-cylinder turbocharged engine, with the tuning being modified to churn out more power. Also, the brand informed that the model would arrive at the local market on the upcoming February.

According to Managing director, Ford Australia, Kay Hart, "With distinctive looks, increased equipment level and bold colour choices, the turbocharged model is a welcome addition to the line-up, bringing a freshness to the range while still being pure Mustang."

The new Mustang High Performance comes with a fresh engine calibration, a 63mm twin-scroll turbocharger taken from Focus RS and a new radiator. It is capable of churning out a maximum power of 316 hp along with a peak torque of 448 Nm. The gear ratios of the car are shorter than the existing four-pot Mustang, resulting in the power-boost. The car takes less than 5 seconds to complete the sprint from 0 to 100 kmph.

There are a new variable sports exhaust system and a limited-slip rear differential. The driver will get a tweaked steering and stiffer stabiliser bars for better handling. The four-piston Brembo brakes are present at the front.

The car drives on a set of 19-inch machined wheels, which gets covered by the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. It flaunts a unique grille, which is splitter from the GT. Mustang High Performance will also come with a range of new colours offered on the V8.

It has similar equipment like the outgoing EcoBoost. Inside the car, there are leather seats as standard, while the leather-wrapped Recaro pews are also available. On the centre console, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen display that runs with the Sync 3. It further supports a reverse parking camera, smartphone mirroring and factory navigation.
