Ford Mustang R-Spec sold out, deliveries to begin from February 2020

Ford had introduced the Mustang R-Spec in the month of October last year and hinted to begin the deliveries from February 2020. However, reports suggest that almost all the entire stock supposed to be delivered in the first batch has been sold out.

It was announced in the month of October by Ford Australia that with its network of national dealers including the Australian car maker Herrod Performance, it would develop about 500 examples of the first supercharged Mustang along with the five-year factory warranty.

The Ford Mustang R-Spec which is said to be individually numbered, will come with a manual transmission and be able to punch out over 500 kW. The cost of the car excluding the on-road cost is estimated to be around $99,980. 

Since Ford is no longer a registered car maker in Australia, the Mustang R-Spec will be manufactured by Herrod Performance despite the collaboration with Ford Performance and Ford Australia. Hence it is notified by Herrod that the production of the R-Spec was delayed due to mandatory quarantine and stink bug spraying of the imported goods by the customs.

Both the manufacturers have not provided any updates on the launch details and number of orders received yet, but it is estimated that Herrod and Kay Hart, the chief of Ford Australia will present the first Mustang R-Spec later this week.

As the equivalent model in the US would not meet the Australian noise level regulation and was not engineered for right-hand drive, the Ford Australia was therefore bound to build its own supercharged Mustang. 

As of now, the Mustang meets all the Australian emissions and noise standards and also comes with all of the Mustang's standard safety equipment and uses unleaded petrol in 40-degree heat to be able to run on standard 91 RON. It is also backed by Ford’s five years/unlimited km factory warranty and the capped priced service programs.
