Ferrari Museum showcases 70 years of Le Mans history

Ferrari celebrates 70 years of its success by showcasing record-breaking LeMans 24-Hour cars at its Ferrari Museum in Maranello. The 'Ferrari at 24 Heures du Mans' event resembles the Italian brand's victory in 36 Le Mans in its racing career so far.

Apart from featuring many record-holding machines of their time, the exhibition also displays a similar 166 MM Barchetta Touring which was used as Ferrari's debutant car at the Le Mans by Lord Selsdon and Luigi Chinetti on 26 June 1949.

The iconic 166 MM Barchetta holds a major significance as the car faced some fierce competition, with more significant engine capacities. However, the drivers managed to bag a win with Luigi driving a history-making 23 hours of the 24-hour race with an average speed of 132km per hour.

The exhibition also includes the 275 P which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1964 with drivers Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella. The 275 P lineup is the part of the legendary P (Prototype) series. The car won the race with an impressive average speed of 195.63 km per hour.

With many other historical specimens on display, the current exhibitions at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello also feature two other exhibits, 'Hypercars - The evolution of uniqueness' and '90 years - Scuderia Ferrari, the complete story'.

Another major highlight of the event is the 488 GTE which helped Ferrari in bagging its 27th class victory, seventy years after the first triumph of the 166 MM. The success goes to the name of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Daniel Serra.

Interestingly, the exhibition also gives its visitors a chance to relive this achievement through the 'Le Mans Experience', a film that combines evocative images of the race with some crucial messages recorded by the drivers and the team during those 24 hours.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to test themselves behind the wheels of a virtual 488 GTE on the circuit of Le Mans, in a simulator set up inside the exhibition area.
