Ferrari brings F8 Spider open-top in Australia, priced at $536,888

The Ferrari F8 Spider is finally here as the giant supercar maker reveals this open-top sports car. This is the convertible version of the F8 Tributo V8 sports car and features a lot of similar elements to the Ferraris we have known so far.

The unveiling ceremony has taken place at the URBNSURF surfing facility in Melbourne and was presided by Dieter Knechtel, the President of the automaker’s Ferrari Far East and Middle-East Hub division. Among the attendance was Mattia Binotto and Charles Leclerc, the head of Scuderia Ferrari Team and Formula 1 driver respectively.

Under the hood, the newly unveiled Ferrari F8 Spider is powered by a 3.9-litre, V8 engine with two turbochargers. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 720 PS, along with a peak torque of 770 Nm. This also makes this car the most powerful V8 model the automaker has ever produced.

The F8 Spider is around 52 PS and 10 Nm more powerful than the 488 Pista Spider, despite the weight being less by 20 kilograms. This ensures superior performance right from the word go. It is also designed to be extremely aerodynamic. The open-top has a hard roof that can be lowered or raised in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 kmph.

Ferrari F8 Spider cabin

The aesthetics of this Ferrari Spider supercar replicates the iconic models that make its way from the automaker’s house. The bulgy wheel arches and fenders, along with a low-slung cabin. The rear holds the signature quad taillights that have become a norm in a lot of Ferrari models, especially the V8 ones. The rear spoiler seems to take inspiration from the aerodynamic implementation of the old 308 and 328 models that we had seen back in the 1970s.

The Ferrari F8 Spider is priced at around $52,000 more than the coupe sibling. However, the $536,888 tag is not the only amount buyers would pay as most of them would prefer at least some level of customisation to have it their way. The customisation can be done on Ferrari’s official website.
