Chrysler introduced new 300 SRT Pacer as a tribute to 1969 sedan

To celebrate 50 years of 1969 Chrysler Valiant Pacer in Australia, the brand has come up with a new tribute special edition. The model is not only wrapped with the ‘Wild Yellow’ exterior finishing from which the original car was known for, but also borrows the design clues from it. Chrysler Australia will put the limited-run special version in production soon.

The Valiant Pacer was built exclusively for the Australian market in 1969, at the then Chrysler manufacturing plant in Adelaide. It was marketed as a performance car to take on Ford Falcon and Holden Kingswood of that time. Under the hood, it was powered by a 'slant six' engine paired with a three-speed manual transmission producing 130 kW of power. 

The new model’s engine bay gets a HEMI V8 unit paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission generating 350 kW of power and 637 Nm of torque. It means mechanical numbers are higher than double.

Guillaume Drelon, Director of product for Chrysler Australia quoted, "We’re excited to bring to life a modern interpretation of an Australian classic, the Chrysler 300 SRT Pacer tribute car.”

Besides yellow exterior paint, the new Pacer adopted Pacer logos, front red spoiler section, pinstripes down the sides, and a boot lid decal from the 69 Pacer. 

The firm says that Core is "the last affordable V8 powered rear-wheel-drive sedan still available in Australia.” even though the local manufacturing died. Chrysler Valiant manufactured cars for the local market in Australia between 1962 and 1981. Although the models were exported to New Zealand, South Africa, and some south-east Asian countries.
