Aston Martin introduces limited edition V12 Speedster
Aston Martin teases images of a new small-run model of the V12 Speedster. The two-seater offering by the automaker is a tribute to the marque's 1959 Le Mans-winning DBR1. The car will be called the V12 Speedster.
First seen in 2013, the images of the car seem to be set on the C100 Speedster Concept. Aston Martin ensures its customers that the V12 Speedster shall carry the latest technology of motorsport along with the best in class aviation technology. However, no official statements have been made about the specifications of the car and the technology it shall be carrying.
The teaser image of the car provides us with a look of a sports car, without any roof or windshield. Moreover, the automaker is gearing up to keep the Speedster as a limited edition model, specified to 88 units.
The forthcoming offering is said to resemble Aston's rich past in the field of automobile. Under the hood, the V12 Speedster will carry a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, producing power of a maximum 710 hp and generate a peak torque of up to700 Nm. The twin-turbo engine will come mated with an eight-speed ZF auto gearbox, mounted towards the rear end of the vehicle. Similar to that of V12 DB11.
However, as per the statements of the automaker, Aston V12 will be housed in a chassis that "utilizes AM's expertise in bonded aluminium". On the interior, the concept seems to feature bolstered race seats, trimmed in both Alcantara and Bridge of Weir leather with a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a dashboard with minimal features.
Currently, all we know is that the car will be unveiled later this year, to be set for delivery by 2021. The price tag of the vehicle can not be assumed. Still, when asked about the car, Andy Palme, CEO of Aston Martin, exclaimed: "The 88 enthusiast drivers and collectors who secure the keys to these cars can be confident that in doing so, they are also securing an iconic new piece of Aston Martin history".
Moreover, the V12 Speedster is a product of Aston Martin's personalization department, Q, every car is said to be built by hand, and the deliveries for the same is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2021.
