2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban are out in the flesh
If a full-blown SUV is something that entices you, you're in store for some treats too delicious to miss out on. Standing tall on the T1 platform, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs have, at last, come out all guns blazing of the American automaker's production facilities. The T1 platform is the same unit that also underpins the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Also, it is the T1 platform that is set to lay the foundation for the next-gen Cadillac Escalada. Even though the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs have been revealed, the two full-size people carrier won't be up for grabs until mid-2020.
Following the launch of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban SUVs, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, which are the twins of the American SUVs, will go on sale soon after. Unlike before, the top-end model now comes in the form of the High Country model, while the other trims continue to include likes of LS, LT, Z71, RST, and Premier. The power comes from a 5.3-litre V8 motor that is capable of generating 360 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 519 Nm. The range-topping High Country model, however, houses a different 6.2-litre V8 mill that serves the SUV a top power output of 425 PS alongside 623 Nm of peak torque. Besides that cylinder deactivation, automatic stop/start, direct injection, variable valve-timing are standard on both the V8 internal combustion engines.
For the customers who want their Tahoe or Suburban with V6, there will also be a Duramax 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 that will be available with every trim except the Z71. The power figures read 281 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 623 Nm. Both the V8s and the V6 will come mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. The new Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban now feature an independent multi-link rear suspension. Other nifty features include the likes of Magnetic Ride Control and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension. While the former comes as a part of the standard equipment on the Premier and High Country trims, it can also be had as an optional feature on the Z71. The Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, on the other hand, is only available on the High Country and Z71 models.
On the inside, marking their attendance are the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, 15.0-inch head-up display, and dual 12.6-inch touchscreen entertainment systems for the second-row passengers. Once out on the roads, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban will take on the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, and the upcoming Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.
