2020 MG HS pricing revealed, starts from $30,990

MG is all set to roll out a new mid-size SUV to replace the ageing GS model, and to take on the high-selling Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, and Mitsubishi Outlander. The 2020 MG HS model will be available in two variants- the HS Vibe, priced at $30,990 drive away and the HS Excite price marked at $33,990 drive away. Moreover, a top-spec variant will be coming in early next year.

The new MG HS dimensions are read as 4574 mm long, 1876 wide, and 1685 mm tall. The boot capacity is 463 lites which is expandable up to 1287 litres. HS Vibe comes with LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. While HS Excite is loaded with full LED lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED tail-lights and sequential illumination.

Both variants are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit generating 168 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Though the actual mechanical numbers do not match with the speculated 2.0-litre engine configuration.

Talking about the MG HS safety features, the model is equipped with a significant drive assistance system called 'MG Pilot'. A visible radar mounted in the front bumper and a camera at the top of the windscreen activate the system. MG Pilot system includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, traffic jam assist, intelligent cruise assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, intelligent headlamp control, speed assistance systems, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Inside the cabin, the MG HS specs sheet includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity option, a flat-bottomed steering wheel having mounted shift paddles as standard appointments. While on-board satellite navigation is available in Excite trim only.

Peter Ciao, CEO MG Australia said, “MG is back, and it just wants to give people one more choice, and that they see it is a very good value choice. I hope that finally people will give MG a chance, and join the 10,000 people who have given it a chance. It is growing and learning.”

A seven-year/unlimited-kilometer warranty and roadside assistance are also provided by the firm.
