2020 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Volante will hit the market in Q4 of 2019
The local arm of Aston Martin revealed that DBS Superleggera Volante would hit the market during the fourth quarter of 2019 and the pricing will start from $559,000 plus on-road costs. Aston Martin has compressed eight layers of insulation and acoustic material into the car's roof, which can be raised in 16 seconds and lowered in 14 seconds. You get the option of operating it from inside the vehicle as well as using the key fob if you're within a range of two metres of the car.
The powertrain of Volante is similar to that of the Coupe; it is powered by a twin-turbo, 5.2-litre V12 motor tuned to churn out 715 hp of maximum power and 900 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a carbon-fibre prop shaft and buttery smooth eight-speed automatic transmission.
Aston Martin has claimed that with a top speed of 340 kmph, the drop-top Superleggera is their fastest convertible ever. Volante has achieved 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and can gain 161 kmph (100 mph) in merely 6.7 seconds. If we compare the performance with the coupe, then it is 2 seconds slower in 0-100 but has the same top speed. There are four driving modes available, GT, Sport, Sport Plus and Quiet Start.
Just like any other Aston Martin models, there are tons of customisation possible including carbon-fibre finish for the front windscreen frame and carbon-fibre interior trim. Volante depicts a fascinating blend of styling cues from the Vantage and DB11. It also justifies the super light moniker with highlights wrought in carbon-fibre. The interior is pretty similar to the DB11.
