2018 Peugeot 3008 recalled, concern switching off the passenger airbag
Peugeot recently issued a recall notice for the 2018 model-year 3008 SUV. The Peugeot recall concerns a child-seat anchor point being incorrectly fitted to the front passenger seat.
The company officials explained the defect as a top-tether child seat anchor point installed to the passenger seat when it shouldn't be there. The notice mentioned, "If a child seat is installed into the front passenger seat without the airbag system being deactivated, there is a risk of serious injury to the child”.
A couple of days ago, a similar recall notice has been issued by Citroen which called its 233 C3 hatchbacks for the same reason. Though it is legal to switch off the passenger airbag in Europe, allowing a child seat to be fitted upfront, the Australian government does not allow the airbag to be deactivated for this.
A VIN list of a total 60 units of 3008 SUV (available for sale from 1 September 2018 through 30 September 2019) is provided by the Peugeot which may get affected by the aforementioned defect.
The owners of the affected cars will get a notification from Peugeot Australia, requesting them to contact their nearest Peugeot dealer and schedule an appointment to have the top-tether anchor point removed from the front passenger seat free of cost.
For more information, consumers can call on 1300 304 077. Further, the original notice provided by the company can also be checked.
If we look at the Peugeot 3008 specs, it comes with a cockpit 2.0 – a system that puts a tiny steering wheel and high-set digital instrument panel in front of the driver. The regular interior buttons and controls have been changed from the physical form into the all-controlling central touchscreen, except for some selected shortcut keys.
