2015-18 RAM 2500, 3500 recalled, concern steering failure

American Special Vehicles recently issued a recall notice for the 2015-18 model-year Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup truck models. The recall concerns the drag link that could separate from the adjuster sleeve resulting in steering failure.

As per the conversion specialist reports, "The drag link jam nut may loosen and may result in the drag link separating from the adjuster sleeve. If the drag link separates from the adjuster sleeve, the steering may become difficult to operate or potentially fail, increasing the risk of an accident or injury to vehicle occupants and other road users."

A VIN list of total 1197 trucks (available for sale between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2018) is provided by the automaker which may get affected by the aforementioned defect.

The owners of the affected cars will get a notification from ASV through mail requesting them to contact their nearest RAM dealer and schedule an appointment for inspection and repair of the vehicle free of cost. If we talk about the current models, the American converted pickups provide better comfort and more refined drive due to locally developed suspension tune. They are loaded with the latest tech features including a new 8.4-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The massive pickup trucks have the five-seat option with standalone front buckets instead of the previous six-seat setup norm.

Under the bonnet, the engine bay incorporates a 6.7-litre diesel unit producing 375 PS of power and 1084 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Convenience features include rain-sensing wipers, auto-dipping high-beam headlights, and timers for the load-bay lights.
