Volkswagen Caravelle

Volkswagen has reinvented Caravelle with standard musical chairs seating combination. It can carry up to nine people with seating arrangement of two in the front, second and third row. The fourth row comes with three seats and offers plenty of space for both adults and children. All the rows behind the driver can be removed to expand the luggage area by up to 6,700L. On the infotainment and connectivity front, Caravelle comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen display, six loudspeakers, CD player, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, AUX, and USB port. Whereas, mirror link, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are optional with Caravelle Trendline. Apart from the optional package, Trendline also comes standard with tri-zone automatic climate control with dust and pollen filter. 

Being a practical shuttle, Caravelle resembles high-grade exterior styling. The front fascia looks captivating with Volkswagen's signature grilles. While the rear fascia is appealing and straightforward. Caravelle is loaded with top of the line standard exterior features. However, instead of LED headlights, you’ll get halogen headlights and daytime running lights. Also, there is no automatic headlight feature in Caravelle. But, on the plus side, it’s loaded with all the necessary exterior features. And, the front windshield is made up of laminating glass, it helps in stopping the heat from getting inside the cabin. Sliding doors are standard on both sides, plus you can also get the optional electric sliding door and power tailgate. The 16-inch steel wheels are standard with Caravelle, and you can also opt for available 16-inch alloy wheels. Volkswagen has also introduced an additional package which further heightens the character of Caravelle. You can upgrade and get 17-inch alloy wheels, dual halogen headlights, and front fog lights with static cornering function. 

Volkswagen Caravelle is designed smartly inside and out. Though the ride quality is not well composed to actively take on varied road conditions. In the front axle, independent Macpherson strut suspension with coil springs and gas-filled dampers are decked. This setup ensures conforming ride quality on the unpredictable road conditions while ensuring intact handling. Further, in the rear axle, semi-trailing independent suspension is linked with coil springs and an anti-roll bar to ensure that bumps on the road don’t degrade passengers' comfort. The rack and pinion power steering work well, but at some points, the response feels a bit delayed. 

Caravelle is only available with a single engine. Volkswagen has backed the Caravelle with a highly capable 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged direction injection engine. This engine is based on the common rail technology, which helps in optimum performance. With this, Caravelle Trendline can deliver a maximum power of 103 kW at 3,500 rpm and torque of 340 Nm at 1,750–2,500 rpm. To ensure the hassle-free delivery of power, Volkswagen has paired the 2.0L engine with 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. You can also choose between normal and sport mode. With this configuration, Caravelle Trendline ensures excellent fuel efficiency of 7.7 litres per 100 km. 

Power-assisted hydraulic brakes direct Caravelle's braking power. In the front, 308mm ventilated disc brakes are decked and in the rear 294mm ventilated disc brakes are decked to ensure efficient braking. In addition, the anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control system, and electronic stabilisation program control the impact of brakes while ensuring that the vehicle remains on the predetermined route. Volkswagen Caravelle is equipped with advanced active and passive safety features to assist the driver with stress-free drive and keep passengers safe by mitigating the chances of a collision. You’ll get standard driver fatigue detection, multi-collision brake system, driver and front passenger airbags, a rearview camera, and cruise control. 

Volkswagen Caravelle is a perfect family shuttle. It gets you the best in the class cabin that can be tailored as per the requirements. There is plenty of room for up to 9 people in this shuttle, while when all rear seats are removed, it offers a cargo space of 6700L. It means, its a shuttle with two purposes. Plus, it’s powered by the robust and energetic 2.0L TDI diesel engine which ensures fuel-efficiency of 7.7 litres per 100 km.
