Ford’s first all-electric crossover named as Mustang Mach-E
Putting an end to all the rumors and speculations, the Ford Motor Company has finally announced the name of its new all-electric crossover. Inspired by the styling trims of the popular Mustang, the vehicle will be called Mustang Mach-E. The brand is all set to launch the model at Los Angeles Motor Show on November 17 at 6.30 pm, local time.
Before this announcement, Ford teased the camouflaged vehicle and posted a video clip on its social media platform which shows a full-size clay appearance of the upcoming model with a line sketch. Not only this the Mach-E spy photos also revealed that the model will be a five-door crossover coupe with flush-fitting door handles and a closed grille area. Though the crossover has taken the name from Mustang, it is expected to feature coupe and convertible physical traits.
When it comes to the Mach-E performance, we already know the electric vehicle has a range of up to 600 kilometres under the WLTP test cycle. It will have a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system i.e. one electric motor for one axle.
For the US and Europe, Ford Mustang Mach-E reservations will be opened online immediately after the reveal on Sunday, November 17. Customers will need to put down a $500 American dollar deposit and then can choose their desired Mach-E specifications. Interested buyers can also create a Ford account to choose their preferred Ford dealer and enter their personal details for the time when orders actually open next year. A similar reservation system will also be followed in the Chinese market.
If we talk about the Mach-E availability in Australia, nothing has been disclosed yet. Though, the firm is set to roll out the next-gen Escape PHEV model soon. So, stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for further updates on Mustang Mach-E pricing and specs.
