Ford Australia axes entry-level Focus Ambiente
Canberra: Ford Australia has informed that the entry-level variant named Ambiente from its new Focus range, sourced from Germany, will be dropped soon. The car has a price tag of $23,490, which does not include the on-road costs.
One of the company’s spokespersons said, “Feedback from Australian customers in this segment shows that they are looking for a high level of content and innovative features as standard, and this has led to the Focus Trend as the natural starting point for the all-new Focus.”
The Ambiente comes with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 121 hp coming at 6,500 rpm and the peak torque is 150 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The engine is equipped with a front-wheel drive system and the transmission duties are taken care of by a six-speed automatic gearbox. It comes up with a mileage of 14.5 kmpl.
Ford Australia has not confirmed the car’s performance figure’s yet. However, the Chinese variant of the nameplate can complete the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 12.7 seconds.
The standard feature set of the Ford Ambiente include 16-inch alloy wheels and halogen headlights along with LED daytime running lights. Furthermore, there is a rear-view camera, six airbags, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, DAB+ digital radio, an electric park brake, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Furthermore, the driver is getting a leather-trimmed steering wheel and a gearshift, which also gets a leather finish.
Furthermore, there is another option for the buyers to opt for- Convenience Package worth of $300. The package contains an auto-dimming rear-view mirror along with auto headlights and wipers. Moreover, to get the Prestige paint, one has to pay $650 extra.
