BMW reveals its i3 Urban Suite
BMW has recently unveiled its upcoming i3 Urban Suite, ahead of its debut at the CES 2020. The i3 is a luxurious two-seat makeover of the i3 electric hatchback offered by the automaker, tailored to meet the needs of the passengers.
BMW i3 is a B class high-roof hatchback that runs on a rear-wheel-drive via a single-speed transmission and an underfloor Li-ion battery pack. The vehicle is also offered with an optional range-extending gasoline engine, the total electric range of the car stands at 153 miles. The maximum output generated by the engine is 125 kW (168 hp), and the peak torque is up to 250 Nm, users will get similar performance in the forthcoming i3 Urban Suite.
The upcoming offering by the German automaker shares similar exterior and powertrain with its sibling, i3 electric hatchback. However, on the interior, the car represents quality build along with durability and sustainability for harsh conditions. Significant portions at the interior of the vehicle are covered with fabrics and recycled materials that are mated together with certified wood and olive-tanned leather, to provide a luxurious finish.
The German automaker said, “The aim was to create an inviting space with a high feelgood factor in which to spend time – the perfect place for relaxing, enjoying in-car entertainment or focusing on work in a laid-back setting,” when asked about their aim towards the future of mobility.
At Consumers Electronic Show event in Las Vegas, a fleet of the i3 Urban Suites will be used as chauffeur-driven shuttles. Interested persons can also book the luxurious ride to the show via a smartphone app. However, there are no confirmed plans to put the model into series production.
