Tesla electric pickup to be revealed on November 21
Tesla is ready to roll out its new electric ute soon in competition with Rivian R1T and upcoming pure-electric Ford F-150. As of now, we know almost nothing about the long-awaited electric pickup of the brand.
As per a recent tweet of Elon Musk, the “Cybertruck” will be unleashed at Tesla’sTesla’s design studio in Los Angeles on November 21, near the SpaceX rocket factory. Though it was earlier planned to unwrap in September but later on pushed to November. Musk claims that the new pickup will have a “heart-stopping design’’ and will be able to deliver better utility as compared to Ford 150 and base Porsche 911.
Earlier, the brand teased the cybertruck at the time of unveiling the Model Y, though the teaser showed almost nothing about the looks and specs of the vehicle. So, whatever the market expects for it now is only based on the statements made by Musk over the past few months. We are quoting one of the bold statements made by him, “You should be able to buy a really great truck for $49k or less.”
Regarding the model performance, Musk stated that the top-spec variant will be powered by a dual-motor setup and will offer around 650 to 800 km range with a towing capacity of 300,000 pounds.
If we talk about the other competitors in the electric light-commercial space segment, Rivian emerges as the leader with the promise to offer R1T dual-cab ute by 2022.
Upon asking about the idea behind creating the cybertruck, Musk replied that it kicked around 2013 when he intended to take on the Ford F-150s onstage at an event. The team has spent around six years to make that happen. So stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia for more on the launch of the electric pickup.
