Tesla Cybertruck to begin its journey with tri-motor guise

Ever since Tesla unveiled its much-awaited and anticipated pickup truck, the Cybertruck, the automobile space witnessed a great amount of excitement, criticism, and whatnot regarding the all-electric pickup. At the time of the introduction of the Cybertruck, Tesla announced that while the single-motor and dual-motor models of the EV pickup will be available by 2021, the tri-motor model will, however, only roll out of the production facilities by 2022 only.

Interestingly enough, the American EV expert has now changed lanes and come out with an official statement declaring that it will be the tri-motor Cybertruck that will hit the roads first in 2021. And, with the tri-motor model now being slated to arrive alongside the dual-motor trim in 2021, the single-motor variant will now begin its journey only in 2022. Tesla has cited that the reason behind this reshuffling is the higher demand for the tri-motor AWD models as compared to the single-motor RWD trim.

The Tesla Cybertruck was able to accumulate around 146,000 reservations in a matter of five days from its unveiling. Moreover, while the single-motor RWD model contributed to only 17% of the total bookings, the dual-motor AWD and the tri-motor AWD trim managed to secure a 42% and 41% share of the overall reservations. As for the specs, the single-motor RWD Cybertruck comes with a 400 km single-charge range and is capable of doing a 0 to 97 kmph run in 6.5 seconds. The single-motor RWD Cybertruck is priced at $ 39,990 US.

Then there is the dual-motor AWD Cybertruck that is priced at $ 49,990 US with a range of 480 km and a 0 to 97 kmph timing of 4.5 seconds. At last, the range-topping tri-motor AWD Cybertruck sports a 800 km range and a 0 to 97 kmph run time of just 2.9 seconds. Tesla recently opened the order books for the Cybertruck in Australia as well, and the bookings are still open for you to make a reservation.
