Porsche’s first electric car Taycan Turbo S is faster than Bugatti Veyron
The 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S has made its place as the world's third-quickest car in a recent speed test conducted by the American automotive magazine Car and Driver. The Taycan Turbo S lags by 0.2 seconds from the Model S Performance.
Porsche revealed its first-ever electric lineup, earlier in September. They called it a futuristic 'sports sedan', making the use of 100% electric power. Currently, the vehicle is offered in two models, Taycan Turbo and the Taycan Turbo S.
The Turbo S achieved a recorded time of 2.4-second to cover the speed of over 96 km per hour from an idle start apart from reaching through the quarter-mile distance in 10.5 seconds at 209 km per hour.
Standing behind the Lamborghini Huracan Performance and the Porsche 918 Spyder as the world's third quickest car, the 2.4-second sprint competes with the speeds of 1001-hp Bugatti Veyron 16.4.
The Taycan Turbo S is powered by two electric motors at each end of the axle, generating a maximum power output of up to 750 hp accompanied by launch control assistance and overboost. Power is sent to the wheels via all-wheels rideability and handled through a two-speed transmission.
Interestingly, the Taycan Turbo S is also 0.1 second quicker to top over 96 km per hour speed than Porsche's the 580-hp Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The Taycan Turbo S competes with the Tesla Model S Performance extensively. However, Porsche's official performance figures for the Taycan Turbo S depict that the vehicle covers 0-100 km per hour in a given time of 2.8 seconds while Tesla claims the Model S Performance's from 0-100 km per hour in 2.6 seconds.
Lastly, the Taycan lineup is expected to arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2020.
