Maserati new sports car set for debut in 2020
The new teaser released by the Italian luxury carmaker Maserati hints that Alfieri sports car will be making an official debut in May 2020. This can be considered as a first step in the brand's next decade plan. Not many details are disclosed in the teaser, but we managed to get a few clues about the upcoming Maserati sports model.
If we talk about the performance of the model, the teaser suggests that it will have a revving petrol engine, which means the upcoming Maserati sports car will not be pure-electric. It may be a Plug-in hybrid or would feature a pure internal-combustion drivetrain choice. The previous reports also claimed that Maserati Alfieri will be based on a modular aluminum space-frame chassis meant to hold up electrified powertrains fully as well as partially.
At the time of teasing the model in 2018, the firm revealed the fact that the top-spec version will have three electric motors, all-wheel drive, and active torque vectoring. For the fuel economy, the firm promised the run of 0-100 kmph in just two seconds and mentioned the top speed of 300 kmph. The mechanical bits are really great to hear, but the actual Alfieri specs will come at the time of launch only.
As per the brand’s product roadmap, the Alfieri will debut as coupe body style first and later in 2021, a cabriolet version will be unveiled. Not only this, but the firm is also planning for the official preview of D-segment SUV and the next-generation GranTurismo next year, which recently went out of production. The refreshed versions of Maserati Levante, Ghibli, GranCabrio, and Quattroporte models will also roll out in the coming years. So, stay tuned to Zigwheels Australia to know more about upcoming cars and their features.
