Iconic Porsche 935 to debut at Australia Formula 1 Grand Prix

Remember the iconic Porsche car known as “Moby Dick” that made its name at the 1978 LeMans? Well, if you do, you would be delighted to know that the German supercar maker is bringing a limited edition track-focused 935 at the Australia F1 Grand Prix, albeit in a modern avatar. The modernised 935 will be up on display at the stand at the Australia F1 and will also make a few laps on a Sunday to demonstrate its prowess.

All units of the Porsche 935 limited edition is believed to have been sold out, although it would just be a track car and cannot be driven on the road. It is larger in dimensions than the 911 GT2 RS, although the wheelbase is still the same. It runs on 18-inch wheels that are shod in Michelin tyres.

The Porsche 935 has been made ground up with the combination of multiple pieces from the rich history of Porsche motorsport. Some of the elements that we get to see here are the wheel mirrors. The twin-titanium exhaust pipes are similar to the ones that are seen in the 1968 model of 908. The wind end plates get LED lights integrated within them, which is a direct inclusion from the Porsche's 911 RSR Le Mans.

At the heart of this iconic Porsche 935, there is a 3.8-litre, 6-cylinder, twin-turbo engine that produces 700 PS of power and 750 Nm of peak torque. The produced power is sent down to the wheel via a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

As for the safety, the limited-edition Porsche 935 gets pretty decent safety elements. The features include traction control, stability control and anti-lock braking system, all of which can be controlled by the driver via settings. There is also a fire extinguisher and Recaro racing bucket seats with a 6-point harness.

This limited-edition Porsche 935, bound for the Australian F1, is priced at €701,948 in Europe, which is$1,205,300 here in Australia. Interestingly, only 77 units of the iconic 935 model will be made in its life cycle.
