Genesis GV80 first official photographs revealed
Genesis is gearing up to release its first-ever luxury crossover SUV in the market. The car is said to carry a similar powertrain as the automaker’s G80 sedan. First revealed as a concept at the New York Auto Show in 2017, the automaker has recently released official photographs of the vehicle, ahead of its full reveal, scheduled later this month.
From the exterior, the GV80 looks almost like the concept car and it represents the traditional shape of an SUV and retains the concept's upswept window line and large D-pillar. The front end of the car represents the company's signature Genesis grille, similar to the one on the redesigned G90. The production GV80 sports marker lights on its fenders continue the design of the headlights, just like the new G90.
Although no official specifications have been revealed on the powertrain of the car, the 2021 Genesis GV80 is set to carry similar underpinnings as the new Genesis G80 sedan. The vehicle will be available in both rear or all-wheel-drive option. The engine is assumed to be adapted from the G80, which features a 3.8-litre V6 as along with a twin-turbo 3.3-litre V6 trim. The upcoming vehicle is also said to feature a 5.0-litre V8 option, to reach a wider audience.
The Australian release of the all-new seven-seat luxury SUV is set to take place very soon, as previously promised by global boss Manfred Fitzgerald. At the time of its arrival, the vehicle is said to join the mid-size Genesis G70 sedan, carrying a price tag of $59,300 and the large Genesis G80 sedan, which starts from $68,900.
The spy photos of the car couldn't provide a clear idea of the company's offering, but the GV 80 is said to feature leather seats, a curved 22-inch infotainment display, ash wood trim, and touch-captive controls, similar to its concept model. The fanbase of Genesis expects a long list of driver-assist features that include automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control. Moreover, rumor suggests that GV 80 will feature a semi-autonomous driving mode.
Lastly, The G80 underpinnings suggest the automaker’s forthcoming SUV will offer their buyers with a choice of four, six, and perhaps even eight-cylinder power.
